About Me

About Me

Freelance Sports Journalist with the skills to create, edit, produce content across multiple platforms.

Studied BA Sports Journalism at the University of Central Lancashire graduating with a First Class Degree.

Firstly, I live and breath sport. I have been a sports fan from a very early age taking a particular interest in football and rugby league.

As soon as I realised becoming a Sports Journalist was a realistic career path to follow I have taken as many strides as possible to achieve that goal, with the ultimate aim being to become a regular TV and Radio Commentator/Broadcaster.

As highlighted previously, I obtained a First Class Degree with Honours in Sports Journalism in 2017.

Since then I have completed a placement with BBC Radio Cumbria having been selected as their representative for the 2017 BBC Kick Off Reporter Trainee Scheme.

On completion I was offered casual freelance work with the station and have gone on to provide services as a match day reporter mainly covering Kendal Town matches, providing live match updates and reports. I have also provided services as a Broadcast Assistant, predominantly for the sports output as well.

I have also been employed as a freelance Broadcast Journalist by the BBC 5Live Breakfast show, working as part of the day team.

I now am part of the That’s Manchester team for That’s TV, filming and editing news and sports stories daily as well as directing the news programme.

Prior to graduation from University, for two years I was involved at Leigh Centurions RLFC working on creating content for their online subscription channel, Leigh Centurions TV.

This entailed creating a variety of content including filming and editing interviews as well as producing a weekly highlights programme,

Additionally, I figured prominently in the match day coverage as either part of the commentary team or filming the match. Towards the end of my time there I became senior producer as well as the lead commentator on match days.

Further experience in broadcasting comes from a creation of my own, Matchday FM. This was an online radio commentary service that ran during the 2016/17 whilst in my third year of University. With a team of fellow students working with me, we provided coverage of a number of non-league fixtures as well as a handful of Rugby Union and League games.

The while service was created by myself and the team, funding our own equipment to devise a commentary set up.

Additional work experience includes time spent at BBC North West Tonight, Radio Yorkshire, ITV Granada Reports and occasional commentary for Warrington Wolves and Castleford Tigers.
